Coaching & Astrological Services

Coaching and Astrological Services by Dr. Katherine Rosemary O’Connell

Synchronicity, and the invisible web that connects us all, has fascinated me since I was a child. At four, I began noticing a pattern that has stayed with me for life: I would dream things, and they would later manifest. At thirteen, working as a page in a public library in a New York suburb, I discovered metaphysics, the works of Carl Jung, and astrology — and never looked back. The librarians liked me well enough, but they made it clear I was supposed to be shelving books, not hiding behind the stacks reading them. I lost the job.

Within two years I'd found my way into the vibrant world of 1960s Manhattan metaphysical bookstores, libraries, and teachers. In 1969, while continuing my college education, I relocated to Berkeley, California, and began practicing astrology professionally. Eventually I earned a Ph.D. and became a clinical psychologist — picking up an R.N. and a Master's of Public Health along the way. Good luck and good timing shaped my career: before I turned thirty, I was consulting on health care policy to a sitting U.S. President, Jimmy Carter.

My clinical work and books on drug addiction, anxiety, trauma, and recovery brought years of media acclaim and international travel. Through all of it, astrology remained my first great passion, practiced quietly alongside the rest. In the 1990s I stepped back to become an Interfaith Minister and to train as a coach, and have since traveled the world training Interfaith Ministers, in person and online. Today these threads — psychology, astrology, ministry, coaching — have woven together into an international coaching and mentoring practice.

All told, I've been an astrologer for 64 years, as well as a psychologist and an Interfaith Minister. I was fortunate to know many of the preeminent psychologists, psychiatrists, and astrologers of the 20th century, including Dane Rudhyar, Fritz Perls, and Joseph Henderson, a protégé of Jung — and I carry those lineages forward, along with spiritual lineages from the many Lamas and masters I studied under, among them His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I've taught psychology at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level at universities worldwide, and I carry a lifelong background in natural health traditions east and west, including a family lineage in natural medicine and herbalism. I am the author of two books on healing and recovery that brought me all over the world to teach techniques I developed both to public and academic audiences.

Astrological Coaching

My approach to astrology is eclectic, drawing on both ancient and modern technique. I work with individuals, couples, and small businesses on natal charts and progressions, solar returns and profections, timing for both personal and business decisions, and horary questions. Health and the chart is a particular interest of mine, informed by a lifelong study of natural healing and years spent teaching at a school of Chinese medicine.

Dreams and Astrology

Dreams and astrology have long been areas of extensive research for me. I've worked for years as a dream researcher and presenter, including multiple papers for the International Association for the Study of Dreams. The relationship between dreams and physical health has been a particular focus — I coined the term Medical Dreamwork in the 1980s and have presented on it since. I'm equally drawn to the interplay between dreams, the lunar nodes, and our soul path, and how these connect to the Lots/Arabic Parts, the asteroids, and the fixed stars.

As a teacher and storyteller, I believe astrology is an alchemical blend of skill, intuition, and oracular consciousness — and it's an honor to carry forward a tradition this ancient and this alive.
